Thanksgiving Thoughts - 2014

Happy Thanksgiving

I can't believe it's that time of year again.  Last year I wrote a message of thanks and gratitude to which I received an unexpected and somewhat overwhelming, yet very positive, response. Today I sat down with the daunting task of trying to follow that act.  This idea really made me think.  Rather than trying to recapture that message and moment I thought it better to build upon it.

This year I would like to thank just a few of the people who really made a positive impact on my professional life in a very personal way.  I'm sorry to embarrass you (not really) but you deserve my thanks and gratitude.

This list could go on and on.  I could name countless clients and candidates but in an effort to keep your attention I decided brief was best.  Also, I wouldn't want to breach confidentiality with my good intentions.

I couldn't decide on what order to list you so I went for the safest - alphabetical!

  • Diane and Mary for allowing me to be a part of such a great organization
  • Jaclyn for leaving EKA and forcing me to grow and accept change
  • Karina for keeping the coffee flowing
  • Kim for making me take the leap I've been thinking about for the last 2 years
  • Lindsay for quickly and easily becoming such an integral part of the team
  • Marie for always lending an ear and sharing a laugh when needed most
  • Mike for being the most patient and proactive service provider I've ever had the pleasure of working with
  • Suzanne for being so thoughtful both in word and gesture
  • Tina for always making me laugh and sharing my, sometimes quirky, sense of humor
  • Unknown Author of the 2015 Farmers' Almanac for being wrong (fingers crossed) about this year's winter outlook for the Northeast United States

I am so fortunate to have the privilege of working alongside so many incredible individuals.  That includes the EKA team, but it also includes my clients, candidates, vendors, and other professionals I've encountered throughout the course of running this business.

Thank you to those named above and to all of the others, you know who you are, that have reminded me how much I love my job!  Not many can say that year after year.  Because of you, I can.  How could I ever want to do anything else!

Warm wishes for a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Lisa McDermott
